PocketPost™ is developed, distributed, and operated by Ramesh Ramamurthy Manubolu (ABN: 59 229 147 740), who is the sole author, developer, and distributor of this application.

1. Local-Only Processing

PocketPost™ is designed with privacy-first principles. ALL document processing, including OCR, entity extraction, and storage, occurs entirely on your device. No data is transmitted to external servers, cloud services, or third parties.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your personal documents or their contents
  • We do not collect extracted text or metadata from your documents
  • We do not collect usage analytics or tracking data
  • We do not require user accounts or personal information

3. Data Storage

All document data, including scanned images, extracted text, entity information, and personal info entries, is stored exclusively in your device's local storage in industry-standard file formats. This data remains entirely under your control and is never transmitted outside your device.

IMPORTANT SECURITY DISCLAIMER:

We do not provide any protection against jailbroken/rooted devices and are not responsible for data loss or unauthorised access to the app or app's data, whether the device is jailbroken/rooted or not. We are also not responsible for exposed app data files due to iCloud backup, device backup, or any other backup mechanism.

4. On-Device Processing

All features including OCR, entity extraction (names, addresses, dates, etc.), document classification, and search are performed using on-device machine learning models. Your sensitive information never leaves your device.

Android Platform - Google ML Kit:

On Android devices, we use Google ML Kit for enhanced document text recognition and entity extraction. While ML Kit processes all data locally on your device, Google may collect limited technical and diagnostic data for improving their ML Kit service. This includes:

  • Device model and operating system version
  • ML Kit SDK version and feature usage
  • App identifier and crash data

Important: The actual content of your documents (text, images, entities) is NOT collected by Google. Only technical diagnostics about the ML Kit SDK performance are collected. For more information about Google's ML Kit data collection, please visit: https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms

iOS Platform - Apple Vision Framework:

On iOS devices, we use Apple's native Vision Framework for document processing. Apple does not collect any data from the Vision Framework usage.

Third-Party Services Disclaimer:

Third-party technologies (Google ML Kit, Apple Vision Framework, and others) are governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies, which may change without notice to us or you. We make no representations or warranties regarding third-party policies and expressly disclaim any liability arising from changes to such policies. By using PocketPost™, you acknowledge that you are also subject to the terms of these third-party services. It is your responsibility to review and accept the current terms of:

PocketPost™ requires the following permissions solely for local functionality:

  • Camera: For document scanning
  • Storage: For saving documents locally on your device
  • Biometric/Touch ID: For secure app access (optional)

6. Data Security and User Responsibility

Your documents are protected by your device's built-in security features. However, PocketPost™ cannot guarantee absolute security as no system is completely secure. You acknowledge and accept the inherent security risks of storing sensitive documents on mobile devices. You are solely responsible for:

  • Maintaining device security (passwords, biometrics, encryption)
  • Creating backups of important documents
  • Protecting your device from unauthorised access
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations applicable to your documents

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY FOR DATA THEFT AND UNAUTHORISED ACCESS:

The author, developer, and distributor (Ramesh Ramamurthy Manubolu, ABN: 59 229 147 740) is NOT RESPONSIBLE for:

  • Any data theft, unauthorised access, or security breaches affecting your documents
  • Loss, disclosure, or compromise of sensitive information stored in the app
  • Unauthorised access to your device or data by third parties
  • Any damages, losses, or consequences arising from security vulnerabilities
  • Hacking, malware, phishing, or other cyber attacks targeting your device or data
  • Inadvertent disclosure of documents due to device sharing, theft, or loss
  • Any other security incidents or privacy breaches regardless of cause

You accept all risks associated with storing sensitive documents on mobile devices and agree to hold the developer harmless from any claims related to data security, theft, or unauthorised access.

7. Data Sharing

PocketPost™ does not share, sell, or transmit any of your data to third parties. All data remains exclusively on your device.

8. No Warranties

We provide no warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of OCR results, entity extraction, or document classification. These features are provided on an "as is" basis.

9. Disclaimer of Liability for Data Loss

The author, developer, and distributor is NOT RESPONSIBLE for any data loss occurring from any cause, including but not limited to:

  • App crashes, bugs, or software errors
  • Operating system updates or device upgrades
  • Device failure, damage, or malfunction
  • User error or accidental deletion
  • Storage corruption or file system errors
  • App uninstallation or data clearing
  • Any other circumstances resulting in data loss

You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of all important documents.

10. Disclaimer of Liability for Device Damage

The developer and author of PocketPost™ (Ramesh Ramamurthy Manubolu, ABN: 59 229 147 740) expressly disclaims all liability for any damage, harm, or adverse effects to your device, including but not limited to:

  • Physical or electronic damage to your phone, tablet, or other devices
  • Data corruption, loss, or deletion
  • Battery drain, overheating, or hardware malfunction
  • Storage space issues or performance degradation
  • Software conflicts, crashes, or system instability
  • Any other technical issues arising from the use of this app

By using PocketPost™, you acknowledge and accept all risks associated with installing and running software on your device. You agree to hold the developer harmless from any claims related to device damage or malfunction.

11. Backup and Restore Disclaimer

The backup and restore features are provided "AS IS" without guarantees. The author, developer, and distributor is NOT RESPONSIBLE for:

  • Backup failures, incomplete backups, or corrupted backup files
  • Inability to restore backups due to compatibility, encryption, or file format issues
  • Data loss during backup or restore operations
  • Third-party cloud storage failures or access issues

You must verify backup integrity and never rely solely on app backups for critical data.

12. Age Rating and Parental Responsibility

PocketPost™ has an age rating of 4+. Since all data is stored locally on the device and no data is collected or transmitted, we do not collect any personal information from users of any age. However, parents and guardians are responsible for:

  • Monitoring what content minors scan and store in the app
  • Ensuring minors use the app appropriately and safely
  • Understanding that all scanned documents remain on the device under their control
  • Any privacy or security issues arising from minor usage

13. Platform and Third-Party Service Changes

We are NOT RESPONSIBLE for:

  • Changes to Apple or Google policies affecting the app
  • ML Kit, Vision Framework, or other third-party service modifications
  • App removal from app stores or platform incompatibilities
  • Operating system updates affecting app functionality

Third-party services may change their data collection practices without notice to us or you.

14. Use at Your Own Risk

By using PocketPost™, you explicitly acknowledge that:

  • You use this app entirely at your own risk
  • The developer is not responsible for any harm, damage, loss, or adverse effects to your device or data
  • You accept full responsibility for maintaining device security and data backups
  • You have read and understood all privacy risks and limitations
  • You will not hold the developer liable for any privacy breaches, data loss, or device issues

15. Changes to Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time without prior notice. Continued use of PocketPost™ after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically.
